Calling all advocates, allies, friends, and authentic souls of the LGBTQ2 community in the Comox Valley! We want you to come help celebrate the installation of a Pride Diversity Crosswalk on June 2nd at an event we’re calling Elevate the Intersection. We’re looking for community partners Help demonstrate that the Valley welcomes diversity and everyone should feel they are welcome to be themselves here.
Community partners will set up their own tents within the celebration area (on 5th Street) and provide a fun family-friendly activity or a free giveaway to complement a series of dance performances and a DJ’ed street party. Whether you’re an organized group, a business, or a bunch of friends you can help create the inclusive, safe, welcoming, and fun atmosphere around the intersection of Duncan and 5th Street.
As a community partner, you should try to create your own little party at your tent. Help us make Elevate the Intersection fun for everyone! Here are some ideas of what you can provide: face-painting, button making, flag making, collaborative art installation, chairs for a “chill-zone”, bubbles, dance lessons, rainbow-themed anything … we love innovation & if you need help with ideas, just ask!
To become a community partner you must:
– bring your own tent to set-up & be self-sufficient (no hydro hook-up or generators) Bonus points if it’s decorated with battery lights & fun flags. Y
– your activity cannot be sales-oriented; a donation bucket is okay
– have your tent set-up by 6pm (5th street will be closed at 5pm) and have your activity cleaned up with tent down by 11pm
If you’re comfortable with the requirements above please fill out this form and we’ll get back to you to confirm your spot at Elevate the Intersection!
Please reach out if you have any questions.
We have a form set up now to collect volunteers. They can fill out their availability and preferences on the Elevate the Arts website: https://www.elevatethearts.com/engage-the-elevation/volunteer/
I will send a message to each of the volunteers whose emails I already have. Please send any more interested people to the link above.
